Curtis Tappenden
OILS & ACRYLIC - Movement and Circus Art - Demonstration
Saturday 31st January Our indoor programme began the year with a lively and engaging session by Curtis Tappenden who demonstrated some of his many talents while describing to us the history of circus and circus art both here and abroad. He began with some of his rhythmic poetry, ended with an amusing story and in between we were given a taste of his passion for all things to do with circus, starting at an early age, and his method of capturing the movement of the acrobats and performers. We enjoyed an absorbing afternoon with an engaging character who held our attention and entertained us for the whole session.

Jo Dowers
Watercolour - Workshop
Saturday 28th February A really enjoyable, well structured watercolour workshop on with Jo Dowers who not only provided good one to one encouragement but also plenty of equipment and materials for us. A delightful painting of snowdrops was the result while covering techniques involved with colour mixing and blending, the importance of tonal values, and the use of inks and masking fluid.

Saturday 14th March Afternoon oil painting demonstration with Melanie Cambridge. Working from a selection of her photos, Melanie sketched her planned seascape transferring it to canvas (primed with gesso). Melanie clearly described her progressing painting, detailing oil paints used and how to use "Pure-sol" to clean the brushes.

Will Dyke
Printing - Workshop
Saturday 25th April A really interesting and challenging workshop in the Club Room with Will Dyke who specialises in every sort of art related printing technique and is based locally in Chichester. We were encouraged to produce our own images using the monoprint method which resulted in some almost abstract
work and a really enjoyable, if a bit messy, morning.
