Arun Art Society was founded many years ago and is a thriving group. Members are drawn mainly from Ferring and the surrounding villages. Members' backgrounds are varied, but they share a common interest in the visual arts and a passion for creating art.

MEETING TIMES

Practical sessions are held from January to April, and September to December

 every Wednesday morning from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm

in the Club Room, and the Griffin Room at Ferring Village Hall,

Ferring Street Ferring West Sussex BN12 5JP

The annual subscription is £50. There is no additional session fee.

Life Classes are held from January to April, and September to December

every third Thursday of the month from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm in the Club Room.

From May to August members work outdoors at different local venues.

 

PRACTICAL SESSIONS - INDOOR

Members pursue their own topics or follow a set theme. Members supply their own materials

A programme of untutored sessions, such as still life and portraitureare held in the Griffin Room.

LIFE DRAWING SESSIONS

Timed short and long poses. The sessions are untutored

Life Drawing sessions are £5 per session.

PRACTICAL SESSIONS - OUTDOOR

From May to August there is an outdoor programme when members meet at different locations,

usually within twenty miles of Ferring, on Wednesday mornings from around 9.30 am.

The venues include gardens, waterways, parks, village scenes, historic sites and grand houses.

WORKSHOPS AND DEMONSTRATIONS

 Demonstrations and workshops are held throughout the year, usually on a Saturday.

Both are led by professional artists who share their skills and enthusiasm.

Demonstrations are free to members; the fee for non-members is £5. Workshops are priced individually. 

 

EXHIBITIONS
The Society holds at least one exhibition a year when members celebrate

their achievements and share their work with family, friends and the public.

 

As part of our partnership with Arundel Art Society, members have free access to each other's

demonstrations and some other arranged events.

Steve Carroll, a well-respected local artist and teacher, and previous winner of the Worthing Open Art Competition, is the president of Arun Art Society.
